Portrait painting is a inspiring collaboration between the client, the subject (often also the client) and the artist. The first stage in this is that we warmly get to know each other through an initial meeting. It's an opportunity to start the envisioning process, which begins often over a friendly cup of tea.

My oil paintings are done in a many layered, traditional process. A short color study is done in person and photographs are taken for reference to compose the finished painting in the studio.
